Remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon
72 hour rainfall totals ending 8:00 a.m. 9/10/2018.

Tropical Storm Gordon made landfall September 5th along the Gulf Coast near the Mississippi Alabama border. Gordon's sustained winds reached a maximum of 70 mph just prior to landfall. The system weakened after landfall as the remnant circulation moved slowly northwestward into Arkansas.

The system's remnants interacted with a front across the mid Mississippi Valley and lower Great Lakes, and widespread heavy rain occurred from September 7th through the 10th across the region. Here in the Mahoning Valley, steady light to moderate rain fell on Saturday, September 8th, with heavy rain arriving on Sunday the 9th.

The heavy rain persisted through Sunday night before tapering off early Monday. Rainfall totals of 3.00" to 4.50" were common across Portage, Trumbull, and Mahoning counties. A flood advisory was issued for all three counties late Sunday and Sunday night.
