Hurricane Florence made landfall in southeastern North Carolina. The storm slowed to a crawl as it came ashore, producing widespread and catastrophic flooding across the Carolinas.
The system weakened and eventually turned northward through the central Appalachians. Rain from the remnant system spread northward across the Mahoning Valley on Monday, September 17th. Amount were light across northern Trumbull and Portage counties, where some locations received less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation. Over and inch of rain was reported across parts of southern Mahoning county.
